MOVIE REVIEW: FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM

I am a believer in magic.

When they announced they were creating a Fantastics Beasts and Where to Find Them series it was the best news I had heard in many moons. I counted down the days until it’s release. And now I’ve finally had the time to go see it.

They brought back Harry Potter director David Yates, which was obviously the right move. Not only was the story line so amazing, the cast was wonderfully put together. I couldn’t believe it when they cast Johnny Depp as Grindelwald; it’s every Johnny Depp/Harry Potter nerds wet dream. Eddie Redmayne was so wonderful in the lead role. The script was wonderfully written with a quirky and awkward humor. The creatures and scenery was visually stunning and full of whimsy and wonder. The colours, the costumes, the music, the effects. It was so interesting to see the wizarding world of America and how it compares to the Britain world we had grown to adore. BTW: Muggles = a way cooler term for non magical folk than No-Mag. Seeing a whole fresh story after we had just gotten used to the idea that Harry Potter was over and done with; think back to the first time you saw Harry Potter brought to life. I watched in complete amazement and awe. Even now I am almost speechless; I can’t think of anything to say about this movie other than it is everything I ever could have hoped for and I can’t wait for more. Okay maybe one thing; they could have made it a little more quickly paced in the middle and cut some time.
