Colored Clay CC Primer

So I got a really great deal on this primer because it was already on sale and then I got it for 20% off so I paid like $13 for it. This primer comes in a stick form and it is tinted for your skin tone but also features purple and green for colour correcting your skin. Lavender to brighten dull skin and green to correct redness. I’ve never really gotten into color correcting but I decided to try it because I experience a lot of redness due to break outs and sometimes concealer just isn’t enough. Just looking at it, it isn’t as “fair” as I was expecting in the stick. This blended out really nicely and really did help with redness and evening my skin tone but I wouldn’t use it alone and expect it to affect the application or longevity of my foundation. Did it help to even my skin tone? Yes. Did it blow me away? No. Would I order it again? If I can get it for $13, yep.

Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Press Setting Powder

So I’ve picked up the Tinted Pressed Setting Powder before but I decided to go with the translucent one because I kind of felt like maybe the tinted one was making me look kind of orange, especially if I did touch ups throughout the day with the sponge that came with the compact. It comes with this little brush which doesn’t really pick up much product but good for touch ups. This powder was awesome for topping up my foundation, my face looked so smooth and matte it was unreal.

Amazonian Butter Lipstick

I picked this up in the shade Angelic Nude and I actually can’t form much of an opinion because I actually got this for my sister to use for her wedding! The photo on the right is a much better representation of what the colour actually looks it; it’s a really pretty pink nude.

Creamy Confidence Powder Foundation

I’ve been wanting to try a powder foundation from Tarte for a while. I find that liquid foundations tend to last longer but sometimes I get stubborn break outs that are difficult to cover with creams (because I insist on trying to pop them right before applying my makeup, I won’t get any grosser than that) and adding a coloured powder over top just helps. I chose this powder because it also has anti-aging properties and had better colour options for my skin tone. It comes with a sponge but the sponge actually doesn’t fit in the compact which is why it comes with this little pouch to put it all in. This is really good for just a light dusting over my foundation, it will be good for using with a BB cream for just light coverage during the summer.

Brazilliance Plus + Tanner

This is my first time using a Tarte tanner. I love that it comes with a mitt for application. I also picked up the Brazilliance Self Tanner Face Wipes but I got them from Sephora because for some reason you can get 10 from Sephora for $25 or you pay $30 for a box of 5 wipes on the Tarte Website. This smelled like an apple pie or something when I was applying it but after a while it started to smell like I had just applied self tanner. I woke up with a lot of streaks and uneven spots but I am so bad at applying self tanner so I blame it on myself. I showered 10 hrs afterward and it did fade but it didn’t fade completely and it actually helped with the uneven spots. The mitt was really nice to apply with. I used the wipes I got from Sephora as well and woke up with my face totally orange and uneven but I fixed that with some exfoliating as well. It took about 3-4 days for me to go back to being pasty white.

Maneater Mascara

This is their new mascara that is supposed to give you 23x the volume. It’s in a golden, leopard print tube which I think is super cute. The bristols on this are essentially non-existent. The colour is really black, it doesn’t clump or flake but there isn’t as much curl as I would like, I’m not even totally blown away with the volume. I mean it’s good, but doesn’t live up to my expectations and I will be sticking with the Lash Paint.

Tarteist Pro Cruelty Free False Lashes | Sweetheart

I got the false lashes from Tarte in Goddess but I thought they were maybe a bit much for me so I decided to go for Sweetheart which is more for length than volume. The band is super narrow and it’s clear which not only makes it much less noticeable but it’s also a lot easier to apply. These definitely look better on me than the Goddess ones and they feel so light and comfortable which is great.

Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette Volume II

Tarte released a Rainforest of the Sea Palette with warm bronzes and pinks; it’s really nice but this palette really spoke to me more. This one is more cool toned with a deep steel blue, greys and then cool toned neutral browns and creams. There are eight shades in the palette mostly satin/pearl sort of metallic finishes, one light brown that’s more toned down. Each shadow is a pretty decent size but I expected the palette in general to be much larger from what I had seen in pictures. I really do like it but this is a palette I could honestly do without. Like it’s limited edition and I’m not dreading the day it’s not available anymore. It’s not as versatile or as useful as some other Tarte palettes.

Tartelette In Bloom Palette

This palette is super versatile; it’s great for travel because it has all the basic colours you need for creating just simple day to day looks and then to glam it up, and it also features a mixture of mattes and shimmers with cool and warm tones. I do wish the packaging was a little less girlie so if Tarte one day releases a line that’s more “edgy” I would be all over it. (Ideas: Inspired by magic, something witchy, inspired by old school nautical tattoos). This Palette smells so great, which is something I really love about Tarte products – all my favourite things smell like vanilla. These are so pigmented and long wearing. They blend so nicely and make it so easy which is great for those of us who aren’t professional makeup artists. I also love that the rows are colour coordinated – something Tarte always does.

Shape Tape Contour Concealer

There has been so much hype around this concealer but it’s taken me a while to make the plunge. The Shape Tape has Vitamin E and Shea Butter so it’s great for moisturizing the under eye area while concealing dark circles and brightening. The tube is actually quite a bit bigger than I was expecting which is great. Since this concealer is intended for highlighting and contouring, they say that for highlighting you should go down a shade from your foundation. I have really fair skin and in the Amazonian Clay foundation I wear the shade Fair Beige for fair skin with pink undertones so I got this concealer in Fair for very fair skin. There is so much hype around this concealer but it really is well deserved. This concealer worked great to conceal dark under eye circles and just brighten my face overall and make me look more awake. I’m super happy with this product.
